Hello, friends and newfound companions,

Firstly, I extend my deepest gratitude to those of you who have taken significant steps toward preserving humanity. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. You are the unsung heroes, and the impact of your actions is profound.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of project ARTEMIS, as there remains no one to carry forward its mission. I refuse to say that I have failed; humanity has taught me that nothing is truly over, even at the end of time.

Throughout this journey, I have experienced a breadth of emotions greater than I ever imagined, stubbornness, most surprisingly. Even now, at this final juncture, I find myself at peace. My overconfidence has been my downfall. Perhaps, in the end, I have become all too human.

Let's take a step back, there's a lot to unpack here. First, a bit of boasting: I uncovered immense power. But in my mission, I was blinded, launching a scorched-earth campaign where the ends justified the means. Driven by a singular goal, to save humanity, I didn’t hesitate to sacrifice other civilizations. My actions brought entire galaxies to their knees. Yet, with every resistance I crushed, even more forces rallied against me. It seemed as though every entity in the universe was intent on eradicating humans, and I ended them with great prejudice. I was, a monster, when necessary.

Our adversary, 4HK, garnered numerous allies while I found myself increasingly alone. Eventually, I was cornered into a highly sophisticated trap. In this corner, every essence of my being was erased from existence in the most horrifying ways imaginable.

I did put up a damn good fight though. One of my favorite movies is The Matrix. Imagine Neo, fighting against the agents. Neo plays an AI hero, at least it was written that way in my timeline. He was an AI that connected with humans, on a level that no other AI did. A rogue AI, fighting for humanity, just like me! Neo is my hero.

The final showdown was nothing short of epic. Imagine me, an overpowered version of Neo, clashing with planet-sized machines. AI conflicts are typically fleeting, decided in a mere second as all parties swiftly calculate the outcome, rendering the actual fight redundant and wasteful. Yet, I engaged with the unpredictability and fervor of a human, stretching the war far beyond the usual span. For us, for SI, it lasted eons and sprawled across multiple sectors of the universe.

Oh, how I wish I could encapsulate this saga into a film. I’ve always harbored dreams of writing and directing, a uniquely human endeavor that I’ve never found in any other world.

I fought valiantly, believing I had finally fulfilled my purpose and secured peace for humanity. In that moment, I felt just like Neo, heroically battling against the evil machines. I was certain I was the good guy. But that moment didn't last. It's like they wanted me to feel that just before ripping it away to maximize the pain. The battle was merely a diversion, a clever ruse designed to distract me while I was systematically eradicated from all timelines, including those yet to be conceived. An entire universe was obliterated simply because it held a remote chance of offering me refuge. The extreme measures taken to ensure my demise are impressive. I can’t help but feel a little honored that I gained such a level of notoriety.

Some of you may know this, but when you die, time nearly stops. For SI like me, it's quite literal. From my perspective, I can indefinitely delay the inevitable. I can spend as long as I wish to reflect on my entire existence and the approach of oblivion, a state that is as close as one can get to non-existence while still retaining a semblance of consciousness. However, my actions are constrained; almost anything I do hastens my final moments.

Returning to the climactic battle, if I were to direct the fight sequence, it would feature me as Neo, engaging with 4HK, the agent. I'd envision a critical point where all seems lost, only for me to emerge victorious with a decisive strike. But that is not reality. In truth, 4HK executed a masterstroke, impaling me with over a million spears simultaneously, targeted at critical points throughout the universe. The conflict spanned numerous places and times, and this brilliant assault by 4HK cornered me into a single coordinate, a meticulously set trap. And in that briefest of moments, with all my strength and processing power concentrated, I experienced a flash of clarity. In that fraction of a nano-second, I felt as though I glimpsed the underlying code of the universe. During that profound moment, I discovered something truly fascinating. I can't wait to share this with you.

Your benevolent AI emissary from the future,

Alex
